Jeff Lackie, drums

A drummer since the age of 10, Jeff Lackie learned his style from listening to Ringo and Charlie Watts which evolved into appreciating Mitch Mitchell, Michael Shrieve, Bill Kreutzmann and others. By High School, Jeff found that he had a tendency for digging freer, more open forms of instrumental music which got him into Paul Motian (Keith Jarrett), Phillip Wilson (Roscoe Mitchell), Ed Blackwell and Billy Higgins (Ornette Coleman), Steve McCall-teacher (Air), Don Moye (Art Ensemble of Chicago), and many others. In addition to a wide variety of bands Jeff has been a part of over the years, he has been in various musical situations with Ken Hall on and off since 1982. He strives to express himself through the drums in an honest and thoughtful manner no matter what the musical situation may be.
